How to Plan a Halloween Party: 2

Spooktacular 025

On Friday, October 30, “Spooktacular” was finally unleashed. The Halloween party lasted from 7:30 until midnight.

After hundreds of hours of proposal-writing, negotiating, documenting, shopping and last-minute decorating, our 4.5-hour-long party finally arrived. As shadows elongated on campus, I suddenly remembered that parties are supposed to be fun, and that Halloween is among my favorite holidays.

The result?

Spooktacular was one hell of a party. Food, libations, inventive costumes, and lots of frenetic conversation. Athena put together a killer play-list (there was much Time Warping and Thriller-clawing involved), and Cat ended up reciting all of Poe’s “The Raven” from memory. And Parkhurst’s awesome bartender, Julian, helped us every step of the way; he even recited his dark poem, “The Gates of Hell,” at our reading.

Not bad for two-and-a-half months of non-stop planning and chronic insomnia.

The next day, I slept until noon.
