From a press release I had the chance to write for my old friend and housemate Seán. Head-shot taken in the living room.

PITTSBURGH, PA: Local songwriter Seán O’Donnell presents his first studio album, Emotional Apocrypha of the Bubblegum Gospel, now available online and in area record stores. A mix of surreal love-songs and psych-folk ballads, Apocrypha showcases O’Donnell’s unique lo-fi, DIY ethic and influences. The album is cut and distributed by Monkey Corner Records.

To celebrate the album’s release, O’Donnell will release the album during a lively singer-songwriter concert at Club Café, Thu., June 17, 7 p.m.  Albums will be available for a reduced price.

About Seàn O’Donnell:

Raised in Irwin, PA, O’Donnell was enthralled by music ever since he saw his grandfather’s bagpipe bang. O’Donnell himself is a skilled bagpiper, performing for weddings, funerals, and festivals across Western Pennsylvania. A skilled guitarist, O’Donnell has collaborated with many bands, including Truth in Advertising and The Standard Issues. O’Donnell has performed his many original songs around Pittsburgh, and several have debuted on WYEP. O’Donnell is also a founding editor of and a board member for ArtDimensions Pittsburgh. His company, Monkey Corner Industries, published The Pittsburgh Monologue Project anthology in 2006, in partnership with the Sprout Fund.
